| | For over twenty-five years, South Central Family Health Center
has played a major role in filling the void for comprehensive
health services in the historically underserved and uninsured
population of South Los Angeles. Originally called Clinica San
Pedro it was reorganized in 1984 as a 501(c)3 non-profit and
renamed South Central Family Health Center. In 2002, SCFHC was
designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center 330 Clinic.
Such qualifications require adhering to strict government
standards of providing quality comprehensive service
delivery.
The services provided directly address healthcare issues
prevalent among geographically and economically disadvantaged
individuals and families. Since its inception, SCFHC has been in
the forefront committed to addressing healthcare disparities in
a competent and linguistically appropriate manner.
Through diverse funding sources such as The Mark Taper
Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, The Ahmanson Foundation,
QueensCare Charitable Division and the County of Los Angeles,
SCFHC has more than doubled its number of patients and patient
encounters over the past few years. Located on the corner of
Central Avenue and 45th Street, the 13,000 sq. ft. facility is
the primary medical provider for the community. |
